I want to hire a designer to do work for me, what do I do?

You can either search for a designer or submit your project for a quote. To search, click one of the categories above (in the colored boxes). Choose web design, graphic design, flash, etc. Then choose your state and you will see listings of all registered designers in your state - you can choose from that list or click a city to narrow your results.

Why should I be listed here?

FreelanceDesigners.com is a very high-traffic portal that receives thousands of visitors each day, most are looking to hire a person or firm to do work for them. Having your listing here can bring you new clients on a daily basis. Our site ranks very well in search engines and comes out in the top 5 for hundreds of cities across the United States. Having a link in our directory will send targeted traffic to your site and improve your own search engine ranking.

I am a designer, how do I get listed.

Click the register button at the top of every page. Start by entering your zip code and click 'continue'. Then complete the page with your account information and click 'register'. You will receive an email with instructions on how to activate your account. Once activated, go the Member Menu where you can add and edit all of your info. There is a login box at the top left hand of every page (it will only show links if you are already logged-in)

How much does it cost?

Basic listings are free, you can upgrade to a bold listing for only $60/year, login for more information. We also offer very affordable advertising rates. Click the 'Contact Us' link at the top of the page and submit a request.

Why can't I see my listing?

For your listing to appear you must complete all these items:

1. For new account registrations, check the email account you used to signup and follow the instructions. If you are an existing user, see Step 2.
2. Login.
3. Click 'Edit Listing'.
4. Ensure the correct Category is selected.
5. Ensure that a description is entered that details your services.
6. Click 'Update'.
7. When you are checking to see where your listing appears, ensure you have selected the right category (web design, photography, etc.) from the main page.
8. Click on your state and then your city and your listing should appear on that page.

If you follow these directions and still cannot see your listing, try searching for your company name using the search box on the left hand side of every page. The results will show what category, city and state you are listed in. If you still cannot locate your listing, please login and from the Member Menu area, click 'Create a Trouble Ticket'.

If I can add my link for free why should I upgrade?

Basic listings are free but require a reciprocal link on your site back to FreelanceDesigners.com. Also, basic listings are returned in random order each time the city is displayed. When you upgrade for only $5/month you get a bold-starred listing - we do not require a link back to our site and your listing appears above all the free listings and randomly on the National Category pages. This will dramatically increase your exposure and compared to Pay-Per-Click advertising, it is a tiny fraction of the cost.

How do I get my link to appear in my listing?

If you want your listing to link to your website, you will need to add a link to freelancedesigners.com on the page you are linking to. The system checks links every 24 hours and updates listings daily. Listings that have a reciprocal link are listed higher than listings without.

I have added a link but my listing doesn't link back to me, why not?

Make sure the page you entered in your profile contains the link back to freelancedesigners.com (If you link from yourname.com/links.html then thats the page you should enter in your profile, if you want the directory to link to your website homepage, you will need to put our link on your homepage) - The spider checks every night to verify the link is on the page you entered in your profile. It only checks that page - not your entire site!

I have added a link - I can see it on my page! But the spider says it's not there?

The spider does not read flash or frame sites. Some sites using PhpNuke or other build-your-own websites sometimes show the link on the page but actually link to a redirect page within the site. You need to use the HTML from our "Link Us" Page. If you are not sure what is wrong go to the page that the link appears on and "view source" (in view menu) to verify the actual HTML is there. Then right-click on the page and view properties to make sure the URL matches what you have entered. (and not a frame-set).

I received an email that says my link was removed, what do I do?

When our spider checked your URL, it returned an error. There are several possible reasons for this. It could be a mispelled URL, your site could be down, or your server could be responding slowly, etc. When this happens your URL is erased from the directory, but all you need to do is log in and add it back into your profile. Make sure you type the full URL that links to the page on your site with the Freelance Designers link.

How do I change or remove my listing?

Login with your email and password, go to the Member Menu and at the bottom of the list is a link to "Delete this Account". Click here to be removed.

I lost my password, what do I do?

Click the forgot password link under the login box at the top left of every page (if there is no login box then you are already logged in!). Your userid is your email.
